General

Effective Date: March 8, 2026
"Kotel Direction Compass" app as a free application.
This app does not collect, store, share, or transmit any personal data or any other user information.
It operates entirely offline except for getting the Geo-Coordinates of cities in the world and selected map Co-Ordinates.

Location data.

The App requires the following device permissions: • Location Services: Required to determine your current position for distance calculations and directional guidance. • Motion Sensors: Required to access the magnetometer (compass) and accelerometer for directional readings. You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit the App's functionality.
Your location data stays on your device.
No location data, device identifiers, usage analytics, IP addresses, or any other information is sent to us.
The app does not connect to the internet for data collection purposes.

API calls

OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) is used for geolocation on the map.
Third-party services — OpenStreetMap and OpenDataSoft DO receive network requests that include the user's IP address.
None of these web calls actively "track" the user, but the third-party servers (OpenStreetMap, OpenDataSoft) will see the user's IP address as part of normal HTTP requests.

Accounts

There are no user accounts — Your app does not have authentication, analytics, or ad SDKs.
No data sharing/selling — We don't sell or share user data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Please remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and I cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. I will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.

Kotel Compass App Privacy Policy

SimchaCal App Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-21

This policy describes how SimchaCal ("the App", "we", "us") handles information for the mobile app (iOS, Android) and the web version at app.derekmanoim.com. It is written from what the App actually does — verified against its source code, not a generic template.

The short version

SimchaCal is local-first. There are no user accounts, and the people, dates, reminders, and private notes you enter never leave your device except when you explicitly export or share them. We do not sell data, run ads, or use tracking/analytics SDKs.

Information we do NOT collect:

- No account or sign-up, so no name, email, or password is collected to use the App.
- No advertising or analytics tracking of any kind.
- No access to your contacts, photos, or location services.
- The content you enter — names, dates, reminders, private notes — is never transmitted to us or to any third-party server. It stays in the App's local storage on your device (or your browser's local storage, on the web version).

Information we do collect

Crash and error diagnostics.
The App uses Sentry to send anonymous crash reports so we can fix bugs. This is enabled only in production builds and never includes the content of your entries (names, dates, notes) — only technical details about the crash itself (device type, OS version, stack trace).
City lookups for Shabbat/holiday times.
If you enter a city to calculate candle-lighting and havdalah times, that city name is sent once to a third-party geocoding service (Open-Meteo) to resolve its coordinates. No account or API key is involved on your end, and no other information is sent with that request. The times themselves are thencalculated on your device.
In-app purchases.
SimchaCal offers (or will offer) an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional features. Purchases are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and transaction validation is handled by RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. We do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address) — Apple, Google, and RevenueCat handle that directly under their own privacy policies. We only receive confirmation of whether a purchase was made.

How your data is used

- Content you enter is used solely to power the App's own features (reminders, exports, the printable wall calendar) on your device.
- Crash diagnostics are used only to identify and fix bugs.
- City lookups are used only to calculate accurate Shabbat/holiday times for that location.

Data sharing

We do not sell or rent your information. The only outside parties involved are the services above, each acting under its own privacy policy:

- Sentry (crash diagnostics)
- Open-Meteo (city-to-coordinates lookup)
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store / RevenueCat (in-app purchases, if used)

Files you choose to export (.ics, .csv, PDF, or the printable wall calendar) are sent only to the destination you pick — your device's calendar app, Files, email, or another app — through your device's standard share sheet. We are not involved in that transfer.

Data storage, backup, and deletion

Your data lives in the App's local storage. If you use Settings → Backup & Restore to save a backup file, that file is written to a location you choose (e.g. Files, a cloud drive you control) — we do not receive a copy. To delete everything, use Settings → Reset, which permanently erases all projects, people, and settings from your device; or simply uninstall the App.

Children's privacy

SimchaCal does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since the App does not collect personal information from its users at all in the first place — everything you enter stays on your own device.

Your choices

- Notifications: reminders are local to your device. You can allow or deny notification permission at any time in your device settings; declining only affects whether you receive reminders.
- Location/city: entering a city is entirely optional and only affects Shabbat/holiday time calculations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

The App provides compass functionality that displays directional information toward user-specified geographic locations. The App uses your device's sensors (magnetometer, accelerometer) and location services to provide this functionality.

3. Accuracy Disclaimer

The compass direction provided by this App is for informational and reference purposes only. The accuracy of directional information depends on various factors including: • Device sensor calibration and hardware quality • Environmental magnetic interference • GPS signal strength and accuracy • Software and operating system limitations The App should not be used as the sole means of navigation, especially in situations where accuracy is critical to safety. We strongly recommend using professional navigation equipment for travel, hiking, maritime, or aviation purposes.

Kotel Compass App Terms and Conditions

SimchaCal App Terms and Conditions

# SimchaCal Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the SimchaCal application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

SimchaCal helps you record people and life events and track their Hebrew-calendar anniversaries — such as Hebrew birthdays, bar and bat mitzvah dates, and yahrzeits. You can view upcoming dates, set local reminders, and export dates to your calendar as .ics or .csv files, or generate a printable wall calendar.

The App runs on your device and is subject to the capabilities and limitations of your device, its software, and its operating system.

3. Date Accuracy and No Rabbinical Authority

Hebrew dates, anniversaries, and conversions are calculated automatically and are provided for personal, informational, and organizational purposes only. They are not a substitute for guidance from a qualified rabbinical authority. For halachically significant observances — such as yahrzeit dates — confirm the correct date with your rabbi. Always make sure dates are correct before relying on them or committing them to an export.

4. Privacy and Data Collection

SimchaCal is local-first. The people, dates, reminders, and notes you enter — including private notes — are stored on your device and are not transmitted to us or to any third-party server. The App does not require an account, and we do not collect, store, or share your personal information.
Files you choose to export or share are sent only to the destination you select (for example, your calendar app, Files, or another app) through your device's standard share sheet.
The App may send anonymous crash and error diagnostics to help us fix problems. These diagnostics never include the contents of your entries.
If you choose to add Shabbat and holiday times to a wall calendar, the city name you type is sent to a third-party geocoding service to look up that location once. No other information is sent, and the times themselves are then calculated on your device.

5. Permissions

The App may request permission to send notifications, which are used only to deliver local reminders for your upcoming dates. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
You may grant or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings, though declining a permission will limit related functionality — for example, you will not receive reminders without notification permission.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL SIMCHACAL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE OSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

7. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for entering accurate information, verifying dates before relying on or exporting them, keeping your own backups of important information, and using the App in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App are owned by SimchaCal and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting within the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

## 10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

By using this App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
